Form I-9 Requests:

The USCIS may now request Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification Form from the adjustment of status applicants at the time of the interview or anytime during the adjudication process, to show prior employment. The aim is to determine if any false claims have been made regarding the employment or if any false social security number is used in the application. Any discrepancies between an applicant’s work history from Form G-325A, immigration status and/or authorization to work in the US may lead the officer to review potential false claim to citizenship. The consequences of such false claims may result but not limited to removal proceedings, inspection by immigration officials, and prohibition on unauthorized employment. The USCIS Policy Manual (Volume 8, Part K) is updated to reflect the above for the USCIS Field Offices.
