Filing update for N-400, Application for Naturalization: Now USCIS does not require passport style photos to be submitted with the Naturalization application as this will be collected at the time applicant appears for their biometrics appointment. Further, all applicants, regardless of their age, will be scheduled for the biometric service appointment at a local Application Support Center (ASC). Earlier, applicants aged 75 or older were exempt from fingerprinting requirements but not anymore. Although, they are still exempt to pay the legal fee. USCIS can make special arrangements to accommodate the needs of the elderly and applicants with disabilities called homebound processing.

Supreme Court Tie Blocks Obama Immigration Plan: The Supreme Court on its opening day for 2016-2017, denied the Obama Administration’s request to re hear the case that resulted in the month of June, a 4-4 deadlock, which simply said, “The judgment is affirmed by an equally divided court”. But these few words have crushed the hopes of some 5 million undocumented immigrants. Under this Plan, called Deferred Action for Parents of Americans and Lawful Permanent Residents or DAPA, the unauthorized immigrants who were the parents of the citizens or lawful permanent residents could apply for the program that would spare them from deportation and also provide with work permits. With the end of the Presidency of Mr. Obama, the future of this Plan is more likely to be abandoned.
