Hi,
My wife has an H4 and I’m on an H1B. I don’t have my I-140 approved yet. So, she does not have any EAD. Now, she wants to appear for a teachers’ training and state licensing exam to be able to teach in public schools. Can she take the training and appear in state licensing exam while she is on the H4 status? Just to confirm, she is not planning to start teaching, but, only want to take the training and appear for the state licensing exam if it is legally allowed. Can you please let me know if she is allowed to do it?
Answer:
If she can get the licensing done under the “studying” option then yes. For licensing, as I understand a social security number may be needed and that requirement will possibly hinder her from the licensure. Taking exams and studying is okay as an H4 visa holder.
