Visa Bulletin & Henceforth

Once again President Obama kept his promise to bring changes to the broken Immigration system. Henceforth, Department of State Visa Bulletin will have two charts per visa category: Application Final Action Dates (dates when visas may finally be issued) and Dates for Filing Applications (earliest dates when applicants may be able to apply). USCIS will coordinate each month with DOS to monitor visa numbers and determine whether any additional visas are available for the remainder of the fiscal year. In reaching this conclusion, the USCIS will consider the documentarily qualified visa applicants reported by DOS, pending adjustment of status applications reported by USCIS and historical drop off rate.

The monthly Visa bulletin will better estimate immigrant visa availability for prospective applicants, and provide needed predictability to nonimmigrant worker seeking permanent residency. This change will ensure the maximum number of available visas is issued each year and minimize the potential retrogression. This will further allow individuals seeking LPR to have increased security to stay in the United States, set down roots, and confidently seek out opportunities to build lives in the country.

At Ahluwalia Law Offices, we are hopeful that this change will make millions dream come true. So don’t wait and call us to find if you can benefit with the revised Visa Bulletin. All the best!
