President Biden Issues A Proclamation Revoking Ban on the Entry of Certain Immigrants into the United States of America

President Biden continues to issue executive orders to review numerous Trump era immigration policies through Presidential Proclamations, Memorandums, and Executive Orders.

On February 24th, 2021, President Biden issued a Presidential Proclamation “A Proclamation on Revoking Proclamation 10014”. Today’s Proclamation revokes the ban on the entry of certain immigrants into the United States of America. Before leaving the Office, President Trump had extended the ban till March 31st, 2021. According to the White House the ban on the entry of certain immigrants and non-immigrants harms the United States of America, including by preventing certain family members of United States citizens and lawful permanent residents from joining their families here.  It also harms industries in the United States that utilize talent from around the world.  And it harms individuals who were selected to receive the opportunity to apply for, and those who have likewise received, immigrant visas through the Fiscal Year 2020 Diversity Visa Lottery.  Proclamation 10014 has prevented these individuals from entering the United States, resulting, in some cases, in the delay and possible forfeiture of their opportunity to receive Fiscal Year 2020 diversity visas and to realize their dreams in the United States.

Accordingly, this Presidential Proclamation revoked Proclamation 10014, Section 1 of Proclamation 10052 and Section 1 of Proclamation 10131. However, one should note this Proclamation does not revoke ban on the entry of certain Non-immigrants, like H-1B visa holders into the United States of America.
