USCIS administered an initial random selection on correctly filed electronic registrations for the fiscal year (FY) 2024 H-1B cap, including beneficiaries qualified for the advanced degree exemption, in March 2023. Petitioners with chosen registrations for FY 2024 are the only ones who can file H-1B cap-subject petitions. The initial filing period for those with chosen registrations for fiscal year 2024 was April 1, 2023 to June 30, 2023.
USCIS recently concluded that they would need to select additional registrations to reach the FY 2024 numerical allocations. Soon, USCIS will select additional registrations from previously submitted electronic registrations using a random selection process. The agency will announce once they have completed this second selection process and have notified all prospective petitioners with selected registrations from this round of selection that they are eligible to file an H-1B cap-subject petition for the beneficiary named in the applicable selected registration.
A selection notification with information on how and where to submit will be added to those with chosen registrants’ myUSCIS accounts.
