SHOULD I GET MARRIED BEFORE I GET NATURALIZED OR WAIT UNTIL AFTER I AM NATURALIZED?

         Question:

Hi Pallavi. I am currently a green card holder and I have applied for citizenship a while back. I am planning on getting married to an Indian citizen. Is it better to wait until I obtain my citizenship to start the marriage process? Or should I start it now even though I am only a green card holder as of right now.
Answer:
You can get married now and when naturalized, inform the USCIS and move the case to an immediate relative. A bit tedious but usually an update can be requested at the time of the interview for the naturalization.
